Hi All

I have an Ariston boiler model Clas 30HE, and it is getting a bit crazy during last 2 weeks. Boiler first shows SP1, then E501 and it switches itself off. Resetting helps but only for few hours, when situation repeats. I have no idea what is wrong, except finding in manual a message that codes starting with 5 correspond to ignition problems. How to fix it?

Hi Luke 

SP1  stands for “first ignition attempt” failed and E501 stands for “no flame detected”.  There are a lot of components that may cause this failure and I am afraid that most of them are extensive: gas valve, PCB, fan, detection electrode. I really think it is the best to call a specialist in your case. Someone will come, investigate and in less than an hour you will know what is the problem and how much will it cost to fix it.

I have an Ariston gas boiler model MicroGENUS HE, and it doesn’t produce any hot water. I am not sure about heating, because it is summer now and central heating mode is off. Boiler is in lockout status, and restarting doesn’t work. Any idea what’s wrong? It is less than 2 years old

What I would do in your position is simply to call Ariston customer service as if your appliance is less than 2 years old is surely under warranty. Say you would like to return the appliance or ask for boiler fix. Both should be free of change and look like the best solution. Not having hot water is not comfortable but not having water and central heating even more!

I have an Ariston boiler model 24HE, it shows code E34. Boiler is in lockout mode. I tried restarting, several times actually- no success. What is wrong? Pump? Valve? Pressure looks fine to me, it is 1.2 bar. Anyone an idea?

Code E34 means Air Switch Pressure fault. It is quite common fault on Ariston boilers, you can either  remove the flue restrictor that will allow you to see all devices coming to air switch pressure and check if non of the ways is blocked or replace an air switch pressure itself. If your appliance is still under warranty simple call Ariston customer service and request a fast fix.

I have an Ariston boiler  Microgenus 24HE MFFI model and ok, it is an old boiler but was always working fine, and it was annually serviced 6 weeks ago. Today however I got a bad surprise having an almost cold shower. Water is hardly luke. I went to see error message on display and it shows E33. Boiler still works just hot water it is suppose to provide gets luke after about 5 seconds. Any idea what is the issue and can I fix it myself?

Hi Ben

Error E33 means Air Pressure Switch Fault. You will need to do both things first check if sth didn’t get blocked in the flue ways and fan tubes that come to Air Pressure Switch. If those two are not blocked your Air Pressure Switch will need to be replaced. If you are Gas Safe Registered you can go ahead and replace it yourself, if not I would rather advice you to call a professional help. Ariston guys are helpful and not very expensive. such check and repair won’t take more than 45 min

I have an old Arison Eurocombi boiler, and last week we have realized that there is sth wrong with it. It shuts down itself every 30 seconds, then shuts downs for a minute or so, and then repeats the sequence again and again. Well, it s not only irritating (almost constant sound of ignition) but also worrying that one time it won’t fire and we will end up without hot water or/and heating. Did someone experience sth like this? If yes, what is the cause and the solution?

Hi Tim,

I have two ideas, first is an obvious fault somewhere in the temperature control- so all temperature regulating stuff needs to be replaced. Second is a shower mixer failure that is simply not allowing water that is cold to pass via hot pipework. To verify this you need to check if there is some-kind of isolator on the cold water feed or the boiler itself. If you find one, turn this thing off and see if that fixes the issue. If not- go and replace temperature control stuff.

I have an Ariston Clas HE system, it is around 5 years old and it work fine till today. I realized that radiators are cold, went to see what is wrong with the boiler and saw error message 108. Any idea what does it mean, and how to fix it fast without spending a fortune?

It is a pressure system fault. You need to do following things on cold boiler:  find a braided hose under the boiler, it will have two black or grey knobs. Turn both of them the way they are facing the same way. Look at the pressure needle and fill the system to the value of almost 1.5 bar. Then put the knobs back into its previous position. Restart the boiler.
